Happo-en is a 40,000–square meter park in the beautiful Shirokanedai area of Minato, famous for its garden restaurants and wedding venue. It is also said to be the former location of the residence of Okubo Hikozaemon, advisor to the Tokugawa shogunate. The name Happo-en was given by Fusanosuke Kuhara, founder of Hitachi, and the park got its start as a high-end Japanese restaurant with traditional garden views.
Meguro Gajoen first opened in the Meguro district during the early Showa period (1926–1989) as a high-end Japanese restaurant and Japan's first complete wedding venue. The famous fiction writer Osamu Dazai set his novel Kajitsu here, and the baths were the inspiration for the ones in Hayao Miyazaki's film Spirited Away. Meguro Gajoen is also famous as a spot to enjoy the beautiful cherry trees that bloom along the nearby Meguro River in spring.
