This temple opened in the year 1128 and was dedicated to Kobo-Daishi in order to ward off evil. It has long been famous as a place of doing so and is formally known as the main temple of the Shingon Chisan sect, Kongozan Kinjoin Heiken-ji, but better known as Kawasaki Daishi. It is a focus of deep faith throughout Japan.
